Bohemian birds

Gulls normally lay eggs in nests made of grass or on rocky ground. Often they congregate in colonies for safety, working together to drive off predators.

Apparently the couple I saw on top of an old wooden dock piling had other ideas.

Two eggs rested in a pile of old, soft rope. This couple was on their own and looked to be waiting for the blessed event.

Gulls grow quickly and are mobile right away. Wish I could’ve stayed to see these two deal with curious toddlers.
